An event “Riparian Forest Day”
The event included the classroom activity and field visit where the school children have had better understanding on riparian forest ecosystem and its values. In 2023, WWF-Mongolia drafted and revised training programme on riparian forest ecosystem based on comments of eco-club teachers. Prior to the event, the eco-club teachers provided training on riparian forest ecosystem to eco-club members used the revised training programme.
The event included the classroom activity and field visit where the school children have had better understanding on riparian forest ecosystem and its values. In 2023, WWF-Mongolia drafted and revised training programme on riparian forest ecosystem based on comments of eco-club teachers. Prior to the event, the eco-club teachers provided training on riparian forest ecosystem to eco-club members used the revised training programme. During the event, the eco-club members visited a riparian forest to see the riparian forest condition and watch migratory birds by binoculars and telescope. The training and Day event have been interesting and informative with regard to the riparian forest ecosystem as well as habitats of migratory birds. During the field visit, the eco-club members learned how to properly maintain records on the identified bird species and their habitats.
Khaliun B, a school girl and eco club student from Bulgan sub-province of Khentii province said: “I have participated in the event for the second year. This year’s event was much interesting for me because I have learned a lot about riparian forest ecosystem importance and have watched and learned about identification of many migratory bird species occurring in the region. I am really happy for what I have learned and watched during the event”.
Furthermore, an event “Let’s Welcome Migratory Birds to Our Country” for eco-clubs was organized in Norovlin sub-province of Khentii province. The event was full of awareness raising on migratory birds coming to Mongolia in springs for spending their summers. The eco-club members learned about how to properly watch and identify migratory bird species coming to their summering grounds.
