Khulstai Lake, located in Khar Yamaat Nature Reserve, was protected in May 2020 by the local people with funding from WWF-Mongolia. The purpose of fencing this small lake is to protect it from livestock, to increase the water level and reduce the burden on the birds' nest and laid eggs. As a result of successful conservation work, birds migrated in and laid their eggs this spring, specially white naped crane.
