WWF-Mongolia has been in charge of the management of the Khar Yamaat Nature Reserve since 2014. The conservation work continues effectively.  Khulstai Lake, located in Khar Yamaat Nature Reserve, was protected in May 2020 by the local people with funding from WWF-Mongolia. The purpose of fencing this small lake is to protect it from livestock, to increase the water level and reduce the burden on the birds' nest and laid eggs. As a result of successful conservation work, birds migrated in and laid their eggs this spring, specially white naped crane. In order to make the protection more effective, the local people are coming together to make the enclosure sturdier and responsible for its future maintenance.
