Fishermen champions selected in the Onon river basin

Total of 36 fishermen from 12 baghs of Dadal, Bayan-Adraga, Binder, Batshireet and Kherlen soums have taken part of this contest.

Fishermen residing in the soums, underlying the Onon river basin have established a fishing club with support from WWF-Mongolia. The majority of local community support their efforts to fight against illegal fishing. In order to expand its partnership, the fishing club has hosted championship of fishing clubs of the Onon river basin in Bayan-Adraga soum of Khentii province on 4th March 2017. Total of 36 fishermen from 12 baghs of Dadal, Bayan-Adraga, Binder, Batshireet and Kherlen soums have taken part of this contest. Highly competitive event is won by the Batshireet soum’s team, followed by Dadal and Bayan-Adraga teams.  
Participants have applied online for fishing licenses through the website, titled ezagas.mn, piloted in the Onon River that makes the contest special. They advocated to the contest guests for this new website that allows fishermen to apply for licenses online. The website www.ezagas.mn not only gives the fishing permission, but serves as reliable information source as regards to fish species and fishing practices. It gives all available and detailed information about fish species observed in Mongolia. After the contest, the fishermen hold a meeting and newly elected their executive director.
 
Total of 36 fishermen from 12 baghs of Dadal, Bayan-Adraga, Binder, Batshireet and Kherlen soums have taken part of this contest.
